Our History
After much prayer and seeking of divine guidance from God,
Pastor Mark S. Falls returned home to Houston after serving as a pastor for five years in Navasota, Texas. After sharing his “Return Home” vision of God with Dr. Elijah Solomon, Refuge Vision Ministries welcomed him home. Shortly after his return to Houston, Pastor Falls began the search for soldiers that
were inactive in their current
congregation while seeking a place
of worship.
The vision given by God was “Partnering with Believers to Edify and Glorify God and His Church by Exalting the Savior; Equipping the Saints; Evangelizing the Sinner; and Striving with the total essence of our being to advance the Kingdom of God spiritually, educationally, economically, and socially.”
Thus was the beginning of Double Portion Baptist Church. The name Double Portion reflects on one of his favorite Bible characters, Elisha when he asked Elijah for a double portion of his spirit in 2 Kings 2:9, and his twins, Mark II and Hannah whom God had doubly blessed him.
